TIMUR MEDIA – The Provincial Government of East Kalimantan has scheduled the inauguration of five elected regional heads for the 2020 Pilkada. The inauguration will be held on Wednesday, February 17, 2021. This schedule is based on the tenure of the regional head as a result of the 2015 Pilkada.
The five regional heads to be sworn in are Samarinda, Bontang, Paser Regency, West Kutai, and Mahakam Ulu. Currently the East Kalimantan Provincial Government is preparing to hold an inauguration ceremony for the elected regional head.
Head of the Public Relations Bureau of the East Kalimantan Regional Secretariat, HM Syafranuddin, explained that currently the East Kalimantan Government has processed the proposed dismissal and appointment of regional heads that have been submitted.
“Dalma near Kutim and Kukar will hold a DPRD Plenary Meeting to dismiss and appoint regional heads,” he said.
He confirmed that the approval process for the dismissal and appointment of regional heads that had been proposed by the five regencies / cities plus the Berau Regency would be completed this week. Furthermore, the application will be submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
“God willing, this week to the Ministry of Home Affairs,” he explained, Tuesday, February 2, 2021. Regarding the location of the inauguration, his party has not decided yet. Currently the Public Relations Bureau has prepared a team to make this inauguration a success. For the location, we will inform you later.
Regarding the proposal to dismiss and appoint regional heads, refer to Article 78 paragraph 2 letter a of Law Number 23/2014. The clause emphasized that regional heads and deputy regional heads can be dismissed because their terms of office have ended. The submission is based on the results of the plenary session of the respective DPRDs.
The two East Kutai Regencies, Kutai Kartanegara Regency and Balikpapan City are still facing challenges in the Constitutional Court. While Penajam Paser Utara, the end of his tenure is still in 2024, considering that the PPU Pilkada was held earlier in 2018.
