TIMUR MEDIA – The public debate for the 2020 Balikpapan Pilkada candidate pairs which took place today, Saturday (24/10) at the Grand Tjokro Balikpapan Hotel was postponed. This is because the chairman of the Balikpapan KPU, Noor Thoha, tested positive for Covid-19.
Although, the debate, which only presents one candidate, will be start at 20.00 WITA.
At the location of the public debate, several teams of the candidate pair Rahmad Masud-Thohari Azis were seen. However, as a result of this incident, the public debate room began to be sterilized.
“At 18.30 WITA the results of the swab came out and were picked up by the task force. We have to follow health protocols. That’s why we agreed to postpone the public debate for now, “said Balikpapan City KPU commissioner, Syahrul Karim, Saturday night.
“All KPU (Balikpapan) commissioners and staff who work in the same office and have in direct contact (with Noor Thoha) have to undergone a throat swab test and currently waiting for the results,” he said.
